Abstract

This paper presents a new analysis of long welded rail. It is essential to grasp the behavior of long welded rail precisely for the wider application and for the installation of very long one, The model employed has the hysteresis and non-linearity in the longitudinal rail displacement and the ballast resistance. The results obtained through the model agreed well with data in operating line. The length of moving section of long welded rail was revealed to be longer than that of existing model, in the long term history of rail temperature.
