Abstract

The thermal properties of silica-based hybrid coatings containing alkyl chains of varying lengths were examined. The hybrid coatings with alkyl chains showed a higher thermal diffusivity than silica-only coatings. The thermal diffusivity increased with the mobility of the alkyl chains, which depended on their number of carbon in the alkyl chain. An Increasing the total number of alkyl chains led to improvements in the thermal properties of the coatings.
