Abstract

The temperature dependences of the density, the surface tension and the viscosity of molten Bi 4Ge 3O 12 and Bi 12GeO 20 were measured by the Archimedian method, the ring method and the oscillation damping method, relatively. The obtained values were compared with the previously reported values. The activation energies for viscous flow and the volumes of the viscous flow unit were calculated from the temperature dependences of the viscosity. The liquid structure of Bi 4Ge 3O 12 and Bi 12GeO 20 was discussed based on these calculated values.
