Abstract
Thermal properties of alumina insulator porcelain were studied using the transient plane source method. Green material was prepared from dry powder mixture of raw materials using cold isostatic technique. Samples were cut from the green material and fired at temperatures 100–1320°C in steps of 50°C. Measurements of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, specific heat and bulk density were performed at room temperature and compared with differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetry and thermodilatometry. Structural processes during firing were discussed. After sintering, thermal conductivity increased by 700% and thermal diffusivity by 400%.
