Abstract
The application of solar energy for air heating in Jordan has been explored by using numerical computations. Three flat-plate (bare-covered- and finned-plate) collectors are evaluated for use in air heating. Based on efficiency and cost per square metre, the covered-plate collector is found to be most suitable for air heating. A set of design curves is developed for the covered-plate collectors, which can be used to predict temperature rises for different flow rates and collector areas.
