Abstract

Light yield, light transmission and pulse shape discrimination properties of NE320, a new liquid scintillator based on pseudocumene and loaded with 0.15% of lithium-6, have been measured. Excellent pulse shape discrimination performance was obtained with a 100 cm 3 cell as well as with a 6 l detector. For the first time the good transmission properties open the possibility of this detection mode in large volume detectors.
