Abstract

We have experimentally and theoretically studied the thermal dependence of holographic gratings based on near infrared sensitive polymer dispersed liquid crystal films. Experimental results indicate that the diffraction efficiency of our grating changes non-monotonically with the increase of the sample’s temperature. The main contributing mechanism is the heat-induced change of the liquid crystal refractive index.
