Abstract

The dual beam z-scan technique was used to investigate the thermal lens effect in the Acid Blue 29 solution. The Acid Blue 29 dye molecules were dissolved in different solvents (methanol, ethanol, propanol, and butanol) in order to study the effect of solvents polarity on the thermal lens signal. The thermal lens signals of the Acid Blue 29/ methanol were found to be the highest. Our investigations have revealed that the convection part is present at higher input pump powers, when the methanol and ethanol solvents were used. The thermal lens parameters of the Acid Blue 29 solutions (θ1, θconv, dn/dT, h, D, tc and td) were extracted using the theoretical thermal lens model.
