Abstract

ABSTRACT AN analysis of steady-state heat exchange to earth with concentric well pipes. Equations for fluid temperature distribution in the pipes are given. The ef-fects of inner pipe insulation, well depth, and pipe, fluid, and earth thermal properties are related to heat transfer capacity with dimensionless parameters. A design graph for heat flow rate is given. Alternate well design con-figurations are compared on cost-effective basis to demonstrate the use of the well design graph.
