Abstract

This is a study of the efficiency of combined-cycle plants (steam-gas units) operating in three cycles– a Brayton gas-turbine cycle and two Rankine steam-turbine cycles, one of which runs on water vapor and the other on the vapor of a low-boiling substance. An analytic expression is obtained for the dependence of the internal efficiency of a three-cycle combined cycle plant on the internal efficiencies of the individual cycles and the efficiency of the boiler-utilizer. Coefficients representing the influence of the efficiencies for each cycle and for the boiler-utilizer on the efficiency of a combined-cycle plant are obtained by regression analysis.
