Abstract

Thermal desorption of hydrogen for the Zr/Al getter alloy is studied by means of the ‘flash filament desorption technique’. Experimental results indicate that there are two peaks occuring in the thermal desorption spectrum: the first one appears to be the first-order desorption reaction, the other appears to be the second-order desorption reaction, and their activation energies of desorption are, respectively, 2.15 kcal mol −1 and 4.24 kcal mol −1. Analysis and discussion of thermal desorption data have been carried out, hence an essential understanding of the mechanism of adsorption and desorption of hydrogen has been deepened.
