Abstract

The thermal decomposition of uranyl acetate has been studied. By means of thermogravimetrie, differential thermal analysis, X-ray and infra-red analysis the intermediate and final products of the decomposition are identified. After dehydration uranyl acetate decomposes to UO2 which is partially oxidized to UO3. The final product, U3O8, is obtained from the interaction of UO2 with UO3 in solid state.
