Thermal decomposition of gamma-irradiated hexammine cobalt(III) chloride

Abstract

The effects of pre-irradiation with γ-rays on the isothermal decomposition kinetics of hexammine cobalt(III) chloride have been investigated. Such pretreatment reduced the length of the induction period and increased the rate of decomposition without modification of the mechanism of thermal decomposition, which has been shown to proceed by a nucleation-and-growth process.
