Abstract

The mechanical activation of the mixture of aspen wood – high silica zeolite catalysts increases the wood thermal conversion in supercritical ethanol and rises the yield of liquid products. TH-HSZ-30 with Si/Al = .Zeolite catalysts allow to fractionate the mechanically activated wood in supercritical ethanol at 270 °C on solid lignocellulose and on soluble products from hemicelluloses, presented by furfural, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, levulinic acid and ethyl esters. The elevated temperature (350 °C) decreases the yield of liquid products due to the intensification of secondary reactions of their transformation to gases and chars. The possible mechanism of wood catalytic conversion to bio-liquids in supercritical ethanol is discussed.
