Abstract

Experimental thermal conductivity values of neon, argon and their mixtures are reported in the temperature range of 400–1500 K. These values are compared with the theoretical predictions of kinetic theory based on Lennard-Jones (12–6), exp-six and (11–6-8) intermolecular potentials. Two versions of the Sutherland-Wassiljewa expression for the mixture conductivity are considered and one scheme is found preferable for purposes of correlation and extrapolation of data.
