Abstract

The temperature dependence of thermal conductivity and thermoelectric power has been measured on a single crystalline sample of the dense-Kondo compound CeNi 2Al 5 along the three principal axes of orthorhombic structure in the temperature range between 1.7–18 K and 1.8–300 K, respectively. CeNi 2Al 5 is magnetically ordered below T N, 2.6 K. The observed thermal conductivity above T N coincides with the electronic thermal conductivity estimated from the Wiedemann-Franz law, which indicates that the carriers of thermal conductivity are mainly electrons. In the temperature dependence of thermoelectric power, a large dip around 30–40 K showing a characteristic behavior of dense-Kondo effect has been observed. Anomalies at T N have been observed in both thermal conductivity and thermoelectric power.
