Abstract

Buckling of laminated composite plates due to temperature changes is investigated. Displacement equations including the effect of transverse shear deformation are derived, from which critical buckling temperatures are determined. Numerical results indicate that the transverse shear deformation has a significant effect on the thermal buckling behavior of simply supported plates with symmetric cross-ply laminations.
