Abstract
Present status of studies on axial confinement in tandem mirror is reported with an emphasis on thermal barrier physics. A brief review is made on theoretical models of potential formation at thermal barrier and plug. Results obtained in GAMMA 10 experiments at University of Tsukuba are presented for illustrating the current stage of researches on end-loss reduction in tandem mirror.
