Abstract

1. A study of the high-boiling byproducts of the thermal condensation reaction of vinyl chloride with trichlorosilane showed that the formation of vinyltrichlorosilane was accompanied by its reaction with the trichlorosilane. 2. The reaction mentioned takes place in a quartz reactor according to a condensation mechanism with the formation of bis(trichlorosilyl)ethylene, and in a steel reactor an addition reaction takes place with the formation of bis(trichlorosilyl)ethane.
