Abstract

Although GB virus C (GBV-C) has never been associated with disease, its influence on HIV infection has received much attention. Some studies have shown that patients with HIV/GBV-C coinfection have lower HIV viral loads and higher CD4-cell counts, and thus slower HIV disease progression, than do patients infected with HIV alone.
