Abstract

Fox Fordyce disease is a chronic disorder of the skin predominantly observed in women and characterized by pruritic skin coloured papules located in apocrine gland-bearing areas. Since the first description of Fox-Fordyce disease 100 years ago, several topical, systemic and surgical therapies have been tested on individual patients without establishing a standard therapy. We review previous therapeutic options and report on a 30-year-old woman suffering from Fox-Fordyce disease confined to the axillae who failed to topical retinoid treatment and in whose case treatment with Erbium:YAG-Laser (2940nm) led to a remission for three months.
