Abstract

This article seeks to explore the clinical application of therapeutic lying in the field of dementia care. We begin by summarising the approach taken in assessing the need for therapeutic lying, before outlining a useful structure for the facilitation of a ‘Best Interests’ meeting about this important ethical issue. Finally, we reflect on challenges that can present when attempting to encourage paid or family carers to utilise this intervention and suggest ideas to negotiate these.
