Abstract
"Abstract: This paper anaIyzes ethical transgressions by psychotherapists from a Gestalt perspective. By tracing the evolution of psychotherapy constructs from Freud to the present, and their cultural frameworks, the therapist/patient relationship and boundary issues of the different eras are placed in context and compared. Therapeutic misconduct is then examined with respect to the changing times. An examination of power differential, therapist responsibility and mismanagement potential follows with focus on basic learning types, boundary foci, and cantact phenomena. Particular attention is given to the supervision of intimate moments and to four different ethical dilemmas which occur during psychotherapy. Key words: Gestalt therapy, therapeutic ethics, therapist/patient relationship, boundaries, contact, therapist abuse, power"
