Abstract

Data on a large sample (~400) of candidates for the classical Algol-type eclipsing binary configurations have been collected. The mass-ratio q has been calculated on the assumption of their semi-detached nature, and then compared with corresponding period for some subsets of the sample. The tendency to slight overluminosity (compared with corresponding MS stars) of the primaries in classical Algols is confirmed.
