Abstract
The theory of thermophoresis of moderately large nonvolatile aerosol particles has been developed by Derjaguin and Yalamov (1-3). In order to solve completely the problem of capturing aerosol particles from gas currents, it is necessary also to develop a theory for volatile aerosol particles and volatile droplets of solutions. By a volatile particle is usually understood a particle consisting of a substance capable of vaporization and condensation on its surface. Vapor of the particle substance appears in the medium in addition to the main gas. Let us consider a moderately large spherical volatile aerosol particle having the radius R and suspended in a binary gas mixture. A particle having the radius R and the mean free path of the gas molecules conforming to the relation
