Abstract
A transport equation is derived for a generalised distribution function. To lowest order in the electron-phonon interaction, it reduces to the semiclassical Boltzmann equation at small frequencies. The temperature dependence of the Van Hove singularities and of the DC dielectric constant are calculated.
