Abstract
Abstract An analytical expression of the diffuse scattering intensity due to short-range order in quasicrystals is derived. The intensity is calculated on the basis of higher-dimensional cluster models and correlation functions between statistically occupied sites. This expression is applied to the phason flip disordering in the Penrose pattern. The analytical and numerical calculations show quite similar diffuse scattering intensity distribution, suggesting the validity of the derived formula.
