Abstract

A classification of speckle-field holograms is proposed: these holograms are divided into thin-layer L<λ /θ2AB, thick-layer λ /θ2AB<L<λ /Δθ2A and volume L<λ /Δθ2A (here L and λ are the hologram thickness and the wavelength of light; θAB is the angle between the object and reference waves; ΔθA is the divergence of the object field). Detailed calculations are made of the diffraction efficiency and of the noise level in the case of thick-layer phase transmission and reflection holograms.
