Abstract

The theory of parametric resonance is applied to a current-carrying magnetized plasma. The influence of a static drift between electrons and ions on the evolution of parametric instabilities is considered for both the low- and high-frequency domains, with the ion dynamics being neglected in the high-frequency susceptibility. It is shown that static drift can stabilize or facilitate parametric growth of turbulent noise.
