Abstract
Conditions for net parametric gain of Rayleigh waves in piezo-electric crystals have been obtained. The waves are coupled through their interaction with conduction electrons. For CdS the parametric amplification of Rayleigh waves propagating in the basal plane of the crystal is found to be larger than that of bulk transverse waves.
