Abstract

The mass and heat transfer processes within finite clouds of water droplets are studied. Vapor concentration, temperature, and droplet size are described by continuous field functions. A simple nonlinear differential equation is developed to govern the propagation of these fields in space and time. Solutions of an approximate linear equation are found in order to describe the initial stages of cloud evaporation and to illustrate two different types of boundary condition.
