Abstract

An analytic theory of electromagnetic response and collective excitations of antidot superlattices is presented. Explicit functional dependencies of the response functions and the excitation spectra on the antidot lattice parameters are found. New collective modes of the system are predicted. Two-dimensional electron systems both with and without the screening metal electrodes are considered. The theory quantitatively agrees with experimental data. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
