Abstract
The stabilization of ion and electron drift-acoustic modes by sheared flows is investigated. It is found that, for a cold-ion plasma, the marginal stability criterion does not depend on the parallel component of flow shear. For tokamaks, this implies that stabilization may be achieved through purely toroidal rotation.
