Abstract

We present a theory for the superconductive transition in metallic multilayer compounds. These systems were experimentally observed to show an intriguing behavior as a function of the layer thickness, and a proper theory was lacking. Our theory shows good quantitative agreement with the existing data and the behavior of the critical temperature and fields can be satisfactorily explained. The model depends only on the bulk properties of the constituent materials.
