Abstract

The quest for developing more efficient and flexible probability models remain strong in the field of probability theory and statistics. In this research, a continuous probability modelnamed the Truncated Exponential Marshall Olkin Gamma (TEMO-Ga) distribution was developed using the Truncated Exponential Marshall Olkin-G family of distributions. The TEMO-Ga distribution is bounded on [0,1] support and has three shape parameters; this allows for a greater flexibility. General statistical properties of the TEMO-Ga distribution including the shape of density and hazard function, moment generating function, quantile function, characteristics function, order statistics, and maximum likelihood estimation were studied. The flexibility of the model was investigated using a real life application. The model showed a great potential as it performed creditably well and better than models like the Beta Gamma, Kumaraswamy Gamma, Exponentiated Generalized Gamma, Log Gamma-Gamma, Gompertz Gamma, and Gamma distributions.
