Abstract

In 1957 the editors of this book authored a volume entitled Theories of Personality . In it they abstracted and critically evaluated 14 contemporary significant theories. Their labors produced a book of great value for psychologists and psychiatrists. In the current work as editors, they have incorporated representative papers by the original authors of Contemporary Theory and some of their students. Preceding each of 12 sections is a cogent introductory statement. As a result these selected papers may be of value for graduate students but in no way do they substitute for the editors' own critical condensations and evaluations.
