Abstract
The theoretical relationships between the terminal voltage ( V) and external current ( I) of a solid-oxide thermocell using oxide ion–electron mixed conductors were derived based on Wagner's theory. The electrical transport parameters of Y 2Ti 2O 7 were used to calculate the theoretical V– I characteristics. A mixed discharge region, where the partial currents of the oxide ions and electronic carriers flow in the same direction, appeared under an air atmosphere.
