Abstract

AbstractThe forbidden fine structure transitions of Cr3+ and Fe3+ ions in alum is explained, using the general theory of the ESR transitions. The calculated transition probabilities are in good agreement with the previously communicated experimental data. The theoretical angular dependence of both, the allowed and forbidden transition probabilities are also presented.
