Abstract

Abstract The spectra of multiple excitation/ionization of the CO in the gas phase in the region of the 2 σ -shell ionization threshold are studied theoretically. The processes of additional excitation/ionization from 1 π -, 4 σ - and 5 σ -shells are included. The calculation of one-electron wavefunctions is carried out with inclusion of the effect of core relaxation in the field of the 2 σ -vacancy within one-centre method in Hartree–Fock approximation. Photoabsorption cross-sections are calculated by the methods of the theory of non-orthogonal orbitals. The effects of many-electron correlations on the extention of multiplet structure for some configurations of multiple excitations is studied.
