Abstract

The theoretical approaches on the electrochemistry of silicate-based porous materials are reviewed with particular attention to the intrazeolite vs. extrazeolite debate in the context of zeolite electrochemistry. It is discussed the electrochemistry of different topological redox isomers for electroactive species encapsulated into nanocages via ship-in-a-bottle synthesis and that of structural species. It is emphasized the interest in describing diffusional problems in the light of existing modeling for ion-insertion solids directly dealing with the voltammetry of immobilized particles methodology. Theoretical approaches to describe the role of redox mediators and electrocatalysis are also presented.
