Abstract

The theoretical study of phase transformation in metastable β-titanium alloys is of primary importance due to its effect on the properties and applications of the alloys. On the basis of the empirical electron theory (EET) of solids and molecules, phase transformations such as the stability of the β phase, the separation of the β phase, and the eutectoid reaction of the β-phase enrichment in β-stabilizing elements were investigated with the use of the electron structure parameters of phases in this article. The results provided a theoretical basis for the composition design of the metastable β-titanium alloys.
