Abstract

Buoyancy-contributing turbulence is investigated from a viewpoint of the turbulence modelling with an aid of a two-scale direct-interaction approximation (TSDIA). Applying the spectral inertial-range form to the second-order analysis of the TSDIA, the ensemble-mean representations for the Reynolds stress, the heat flux, and model equations for the turbulent-energy and thermal-intensity dissipation rates are derived and discussed in detail.
