Abstract

In this work a method is described to investigate theoretically the optimum punch-die clearance in the blanking operation for given parameters, using the finite-element technique. The effect of the ductility on the value of the optimum clearance and of the optimum penetration is established. The results obtained through the finite-element analysis are compared with available theoretical and experimental results. It is found that the results of the present work are in close agreement with the results of experiment and the trends match well with the results of the theoretical work.
