Abstract

AbstractA theoretical introduction to coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) as a local probe for nanocomposite materials is given. The interference nature of CARS spectra and the high spatial resolution make this non‐linear process an ideal local probe for the metrology of nanostructures and nanocomposites (nanoCARS). Local field enhancement of CARS in nanostructures allows the creation of efficient nanoCARS sensors. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
