Abstract
Intensity distributions of K 1L n for K Kα and Cr Kα are well explained by the Semi-Classical Approximation (SCA) for light and bare projectile impacts. However, maximum intensities of observed K 1L n induced by heavy ions such as 12C 4+ and 16C 4+ were shifted to lower numbers of L shell vacancies than those expected from SCA. If we replace the nuclear charge of the heavy ion projectiles by their equilibrium or effective charge, in calculations of the ionization cross sections, the intensity distributions of K 1L n can be reproduced by the modified SCA.
