Abstract

The problem of burnishing metal samples with a smooth surface using a spherical indenter is considered. The nonlocal plastic strains in the burnished sample are taken into account. The dimensionless parameters are found that determine the effective friction coefficient under the influence of external oscillations. Numerical modeling is used to obtain the dependencies of the effective friction coefficient on the dimensionless parameters.
