Abstract

A numerical simulation was made of the generation of radiation in an ammonia laser (containing an ammonia — nitrogen mixture) in the form of several lines. The laser was assumed to be pumped optically by strong pulses which can be provided by a CO2 laser emitting as a result of the 9R(30) transition. The spectral pattern of the output radiation was calculated and it demonstrated that the lasing spectrum can be controlled by varying the pump intensity as well as the absorption coefficients of the various ammonia laser lines.
