Abstract

Recent progress in the theory of photoemission and bremsstrahlung isochromat spectroscopy from solids is reviewed. The topics dealt with include general photoemission theory, the current status of calculating one-electron and quasi-particle energies in solids, photoemission models, the significance of relativistic effects like spin-orbit interaction and the physical information originating from inverse photoemission.
