Abstract

At plasma disruption of a Tokamak Fusion Reactor eddy current is induced in metalic structures (first wall, divertor plate, blanket vessel and shielding structure) surrounding plasmas. The eddy current causes a transient electromagnetic force in the structures due to an interaction with magnetic field. The magnitude of dynamic deformation depends on a time constant of the eddy current and geometry of the structures as well as boundary conditions. Electromagnetic stress caused by the dynamic deformation is a critical factor to lifetime of the structures. Thus, the electromagnetic stress should be estimated as accurately as possible in order to assure the integrity of the structures. In this study experimant has been performed to simulate the dynamic magnetomechanical behavior of the structures with use of the transient electromagnetic force. The eddy current and the deflection of a conducting plate(cantilever) obtained by the experiment have been compared with numerical results to verify the agreement between the numerical analysis and the measured strain.
