Abstract
Design, analysis and experimental testing of a dual-band circularly polarized (CP) microstrip patch antenna are presented. The effects of inserting slits at the edge of antenna, to obtain dual-band operation, and a loading slot at the center of the patch, to achieve circular polarized radiation, also are discussed. Dual-band radiation can also be achieved by inserting four T-shaped slots instead of rectangular slots. The HFSS high frequency simulator is used for analysis of the antenna. The antenna is implemented on a FR4 substrate with permittivity about 4.1 and thickness 1.6 mm. Theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental results.
